Crisis support
Crisis support in India: who to call right now
If you are in danger, or are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to one of these services first.
MLC Health does not currently provide emergency services. We recommend reaching these national helplines instead.
If you or someone is in immediate danger
Emergency: 112
Call 112, India's emergency number, or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
Call 112If you need to talk to someone now
Tele-MANAS: 14416
Also 1-800-891-4416. Free, available day and night, and you can ask for support in your own language. This is the Government of India mental health helpline.
Call 14416If you are with someone who may harm themselves
- Stay with them and stay calm. Listen without arguing or judging.
- Ask directly whether they are thinking of hurting themselves. Asking does not put the idea in their head.
- Remove things they could use to hurt themselves if you can do so safely.
- Call 112 or Tele-MANAS together, or take them to the nearest emergency department.
- Don't leave them alone until someone trained can help.
If you are the one struggling
You don't have to wait until things get worse to call. Tell one person you trust how you are feeling right now. If you have a safety plan, use it.
